Use This Time To Better You…

‘Are you just taking a 3+ month break or are you using this time to put your all in and work on you? 

A new skill, a new level of confidence, a new feeling of self-worth… It might sound harsh but this is where the world splits in half. Half of us will invest in ourselves, becoming higher achievers, and absolutely fly past those who sit within their thoughts doing nothing. Has there been a time in your life where you have been thinking ‘I would love to be able to do that or I wish I could learn how to do that’ Now is your time. We all have so much time on our hands right now to do these things that we might not have been able to do with a busy schedule ever again, because once life hits us back in the face again we’re not gonna know what’s hit us!

This is a huge part of our growth right now. If that means learning a new style, being able to get into the splits, being able to whack, being able to free-style confidently! I have had so many people asking the same questions such as “How are you so flexible? How did you get into the splits?” ‘How do you freestyle like that?” It is all practice, persistence and consistency! You have to set your self challenges in your mind or even write them down…

‘Today I am going to do a one hour stretch which consists of XYZ, and I’m going to do this every other day to go to my goal which is to be able to do box splits in 2 months’. This is all SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-bound)! Trust me you are so capable. If you set goals in this time, your motivation WILL skyrocket if you set them appropriately, until you to get to the finishing line and achieving that goal. Then it’s onto the next one for an even bigger sense of success and achievement – the cycle is only onwards and upwards from here. Imagine with this positive mindset and consistent goal setting where you could actually be if you stuck at it…

I wake up in the morning and write a do list EVERY SINGLE DAY. This has silly things on it such as ‘Drink a whole bottle of water before 11am’ or ‘empty the dishwasher’ but then, on the other hand, has things like ‘Choreograph new routine or take an online dance class’ The to-do list is for ME and for me to know exactly what needs to be done, so I can tick off my life (so satisfying) and leaves me going to bed feeling accomplished and proud of myself.!

You need to be motivated at this time, not be lazy. Without pushing yourself and setting yourself challenges, we end up getting lazy, right? How hard is it gonna be to get back into it without a routine pushing you?

You set yourself goals, make challenges for yourself and do things that you may not have done before.

Use this time to better you as a dancer and an individual. Practice makes perfect.
