I always set myself goals throughout the year. There is nothing better than looking back and reflecting on all the achievements that you have had throughout the year.
So what are your dance goals for 2020?
As a choreographer and a dancer, my personal goals are to train more, train hard and train smart. So what can you do this year? Check out a few of my tips below:
USE FILMING FOR A DIFFERENT REASON THIS YEAR:
Everyone cares about filming and looking good for the camera WAY TOO MUCH, but at the end of the day training and improvements are more important than looking good for the camera. Rather than using filming to look good, use it to keep track of your progress. You can then use the videos from the entire year to take note of how far you have come.
STEP OUR OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE AND TRY NEW CLASSES:
At the end of the day, you will never grow if you don’t push yourself and if you don’t take classes that aren’t your ‘strong point’. The best thing you can do is jump into classes that you feel are your weaker style. It’s only going to benefit you in the long run!
FOCUS ON THE POSITIVES, NOT THE NEGATIVES:
Give yourself different things to focus on during each class. If you try and battle the world and you want to improve on EVERYTHING each week, you’ll get nowhere. Want to know what you can focus on? Check out some ideas below:
levels, textures, faces, emotions, musicality, choreography, pick up, performance to the camera, interaction, style, technique. Take the time to set little goals for yourself each week.
ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS:
If you don’t understand how to do something ask! NO question is a silly question.
It’s time to kill it and make 2020 YOUR year!
