I remember showing up to my first commercial class at the Army DC about a year ago, motivating myself in the car to go in the studio and get to know the other dancers before the session started. My mind was anxious but my body energetically knew that this would be the start of an incredible journey. After the class, my heart was flooding with love, excitement, joy and energy. Beckie put a spotlight on all the new dancers, and made us feel so safe and part of the family, unlike any other dance teacher I have been taught by. I finally was able to let go and express myself in a dance
class, and it has never stopped being that way ever since.
Before joining the Army DC I doubted my ability to pick up and look good performing urban styles of dance e.g. commercial, hip hop etc. I was nervous to perform solos in front of the class, and
was constantly worried about making mistakes and forgetting all the choreography. However, Beckie helped us tackle all these types of worries, she is an incredibly giving person, always wanting to flip a negative into a positive, and this immediately rubbed off on me. As of now, whenever I create negative self talk when dancing, I know how to flip it and transmute the energy through movement.
My biggest takeaways:
⁃ It’s not about looking perfect, it’s about how much you care, how much passion is in your
heart.
⁃ You don’t know unless you try.
⁃ When you can learn to trust the way your body wants to move, magic happens.
⁃ Big energy, support and praise create the best environment for a dancer to perform their
best.
Beckie is extremely creative and will always find new and innovative ways of teaching us about cultivating a positive mindset without making it boring or plain. She is willing to spend her own time talking on a one to one basis about any personal
doubts, worries and fears. She offers unlimited opportunities to dancers who have passion, and big visions. She isn’t afraid to be vulnerable about her own experiences in the dance industry, this
allows her students to connect to her on a deeper level.
My biggest positives:
⁃ Being able to be 100% authentic in class
⁃ Easy to connect with the other dancers, no judgement or negativity between anyone
⁃ Feeling whole and complete in every class, sense of security and family
The Army DC will always have a special place in my heart, it’s so rare to find a community that truly love and accepts all part of you. Everyone in the company is so genuinely kind and caring, and this has made me want to be even kinder in my every day life, because I know how good it feels to receive it. I not only have progressed so quickly in the way I dance, but in the way I think and perceive the world. I am now able to trust in the flow of life, just as I trust the flow of my body in class. I have learnt so much, and that is something I am beyond grateful for. Thank you Beckie, you and this company have been one of the highlights in my life.

I discovered Beckie 4 years ago through YouTube. Watched a couple of vids, was trully impressed by the skills and wanted to learn from her... dance initially. Little did I know, Beckie is not only a great dancer and choreographer, I discovered she also has a great attitude towards life in general. I haven't stopped following her mindset since.
I wouldn't say she has influenced me directly or deliberately. It was a combination of small bits here and there that I observed, could relate to and figured I could work on in myself. In theory, we all know what we "should" be doing to be happy/successful, heard it gazillion times, seen thousands of positive inspirational quotes.
Beckie though, she somehow gave me that reassurance that my next step outside of my comfort zone is going to be the right one.
Biggest shift in my life happened before 3 years ago, when I decided to honestly love myself and focus on making MY life a priority. So many factors were holding me back that I was able to identify, let go of and leave them in the past to be able to move forward.
Just watching her own aproach to her businesses, her growth and self-confidence is inspirational. I am sure it rubs of on anyone who follows her journey.

The army dc has really helped me in a lot of ways. When I first joined my beginners class, I had never danced before (Well let’s be honest , apart from in the club when the alcohol finally hits) but had very little confidence.
Right from the first lesson Beckie made us fill very welcomed, comfortable. Obviously it’s took us a little bit to warm up and settle in, but by the end of the first lesson, you could see everyone had a massive grin on the face. She has taught me so much about confidence and not caring about what others think and not caring about who’s watching me dance!
Is it hard work? YES!! Does Beckie make you work until you sweat buckets? YES!! But is it worth it at the end? HELLL YEAH! There is no chance you will be able to hide at the back and not get noticed, she watches us and doesn’t move on until every single one of us comfortable with ourselves. I can’t talk for anyone else in I honestly feel so much better about my self to the point where when I went out last week, I didn’t even have to drink for me to bust out the moves!!!

Beckie is sensational at what she does. She is incredibly thoughtful, has the most vibrant, captivating energy and does it with such ease. In each session with Beckie, she is able to instantly read the room and give her students exactly what they need through interesting, fun and thought-provoking exercises. One of my favourite things about Beckie is her thoughtfulness and creative process. One thing I struggled with was freestyle. Beckie helped me understand that a good freestyle is about trusting your body, focusing on the story and the moment you want to portray and then the movement just takes shape. This changed the game for my freestyle and performance and I’m really grateful for all the lessons (both mindset and dance related) that have not only helped me be a better dancer but also a more authentic, vulnerable and true version of myself. She transcends a dance class into a meaningful, transformative journey and I’m incredibly grateful to call her a mentor.

Before I joined THE ARMY DC , I wasn’t even sure if I liked dance anymore I slowly starting losing interest in it and I forgot how to freestyle but since I’ve joined THE ARMY DC, I’ve loved it and Beckie is the main reason why I continue going every week because her classes make you feel like you’re a part of something important. I always used to watch dance videos and wish I could be like the people on my screen and actually go dance class more than once a week and where I actually enjoy going to! Im glad that I’ve joined THE ARMY DC because their the reason I got back into dancing again.
What I really like is that we learn new choreo and different styles of dance, like last week was my first time learning contemporary style, where as other dance class you sign up for one specific style which doesn’t really give you a chance to learn others dance styles or a mixture of them without having to join other dance classes, which is long.
THE ARMY DC and Beckie have given me more confidence in myself when I’m dancing and I can express myself without feeling uncomfortable, everyone there is so nice and friendly and when your performing infront of your class there supportive and give a lot of positive energy which gives you a boost, I’ve also improved so much from when I first started!

I started with the army DC , and it says it all in the name really, army = family.
I have been dancing from a young age but it never really went anywhere and it was a big crash on my confidence, so I stopped and only danced in my room. I kept looking for the right place to dance then the army DC came along and I just knew that was the place to be, I watched a video and felt the buzz and seeing how comfortable everyone was and watching the routines, I just knew the vibe was there!
Then I decided to join the beginners class and can honestly say it is the best thing I have done. I get to dance again in a room with such amazing dancers who all felt the same as me, shy and scared but Beckie & zoe welcomed us all and made us feel at home. Beckie made us all realise you can have your own vibe and be yourself. Everyone is so nice and I know staying at the army DC will continuously grow me into a more powerful, confident dancer.
Beckie has opened up a place for everyone and anyone to come and be free, and be yourself. If dancing is what you like or if you want a confident boost, either way, the only place to be is the Army DC

It had been a really long time since I had been to a hip hop/street/commercial dance class (and by a long time I’m talking close to a decade!). I had looked before but struggled to find a local class that was aimed at adults but at the same time challenging.
After having a baby my body had changed, I had less confidence, I had left behind a busy career and I was putting my everything into being a mum, I completely forgot about myself.
I found Beckie’s class, & when I turned up that first evening I was SO nervous, I made sure I wore black in the hope that nobody would notice me because I felt so self conscious and found a spot to hide in at the back.
Well, literally an hour later I my entire mood had lifted from when I first arrived. I was genuinely just so happy!! Beckie is the most awesome teacher with SO much energy, I loved the choreography, the music, the atmosphere and I can honestly say it’s the nicest group of girls to dance with. Even though I’m a bit (ahem, quite a lot) older than a lot of the other girls, it totally doesn’t matter, everyone supports each other loads & there is just no judgement in class!
I cannot wait for my classes each week! I’m happier, I’ve lost weight, I’m more confident and most importantly doing something I love so much each week makes me a better mum.
Alishia Stride
Since joining the army dc, I can honestly say I have not just changed as a dancer but as a person too. Beckie and all the teachers, make sure you grow in every way possible. What is fantastic about every lesson is there is always something new to gain or learn and something unique I can take into my dancing every single time I am at the studio. As well as the army dc teachers being amazing, the people within the company are just as amazing and you can learn just as much from them. I often find myself growing from the others around me in every style. One thing I always love is something I learnt in contemporary can link and help me understand something within commercial. I used to be such a shy performer and every time I did videos I was so timid and held back. Compared to now where my confidence has COMPLETELY skyrocketed, and I could never thank the army dc. It’s my forever dance home and I will always be grateful for the love and energy they will always give me. And something I will share with everyone is that, anyone and everyone else will always gain skills, knowledge and a supportive team every week.
Arabella Goswell
When I first joined dance I was extremely nervous and wouldn’t set myself any challenges however through the years the army dc has helped me set new challenges and ambitions for myself which has made me more determined to achieve my dreams.
My biggest takeaway would be my mindset and how it has completely changed but in the best way.before I joined the army dc I would see things in a slightly negative way but now I see things in a really positive way.
Beckie dosent just teach us amazing choreography she also teaches us how we could be the best/positive version of ourselves.
When I come to dance I think it’s kind of a”stress reliever”because when I come to dance all my problems go away and it kind of gets me to take a step back from the “outside world” and a step further into the dance world.
Sienna Carrington
I started off really low in confidence and was the typical girl with the typical attitude until my mum found Beckie’s instagram and was just mesmerised by her page. We literally stalked her page till we found no more posts ! So I was 12 when I first joined and I’m the 16+ classes so I was the youngest there and from walking in you just were hit with their comforting vibe and happiness ! Everyone’s already dancing when I get in, and nobody’s having any daily gossip or secret conversations , it was just laughs and fun but we got down to business . I’ve always danced quite commercial since a child ,so finding Beckie’s dancing was one of the best things that had ever happened to me to be honest and that night I came home gleaming , my mum had to message Beckie and tell her how happy I looked you could even see it in my eyes , no joke and ever since then I’ve arrived to every class with that excited butterfly tummy feeling and left with giddy shoulders , so happy and proud of myself . So coming to the first class and learning my favourite dance of all time “wet the bed “Chris brown it really assured me that dance was what I wanted to do ! Just this first class told made me realise dance will be my future and with Beckie’s help I know It’ll be a success! Me already being super low on confidence and I was there by myself , I should’ve been nervous but I felt comfort and it felt like all the girls were my friends already. I’m probably being biased but I learned the choreo in like 30 minutes all down to Beckie’s teaching ; it’s like we’ll repeat the dances over again , she makes nobody shy to ask questions and the buzz you get from the choreo is an amazing feeling . Keeping it real , I won’t get dances first time , and I’ll go up in -front of everyone and mess up so much but I’ll still leave the studio , get in my dad’s car and be like “class was sooo sick today as usual” because yes I didn’t do it to my full potential but the happiness and fun never died keeping my mood always up.
Non stop opportunities come our way, for instance when I joined #THEARMY PRO TEAM Beckie takes us on trips to London and we have so much fun ! What I love about us is we’ll have fun without having to gossip about other people or laugh at people failures , we have genuine banter and support everyone. Or when we have the time to invite our friends to dance with us in open class , which a lot of my friends can’t wait to do as like many others they have things to do . My main love for our classes is the filming and I think it’s the same for everyone ! Just knowing the whole world can spot you or notice you from those videos is what makes it exciting . Also the fact that it gives us something to look forward too and push ourselves towards doing the best we can in our videos ! So we can flaunt them onto our snapchat and Instagram! Also, to of course track our ongoing progress that Beckie will always praise us on our confidence and helps us to improve on it in every class. Beckie has her special way of teaching and we all have our different relationships with her , it’s not like we go to dance, she teaches us and we go ! It’s like we can talk to her about anything openly !
Although , she doesn’t pick on people , if there’s a problem with our dancing or structure in pro team for example she’ll just say everyone tighten up so nobody gets embarrassed , this is good but at the same time people might think it’s not them and stay the same although we’re only human and of there are any situations going on Beckie makes sure things don’t slide and people know our environment is for good vibes and good songs only so there’s hardly any issues anyway
So After months of practicing videos made from the la girls on instagram when they do their sick videos at the playground I finally found Beckie and it feels like I’m at @thealiyajanell or sometimes when things are abit more hip hop @deeglazer classes in our home town ! Really deep in it and it these dance classes have made such a positive impact on my life ! And I love every bit of it

Joining THE ARMY was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! At first I was so nervous and didn’t feel like I’d be able to keep up with the other dancers and that I’d look silly, but as soon as I entered the room for the first time, the energy and vibe was amazing, everyone was so friendly. When I started dancing and learning the routine, a side of me that I’ve never seen before started to come out, it gave me so much self confidence and the fact that everyone else in the room was giving the dance their all made you want to go at the routine even harder. Everyone there is mixed abilities and has there own style which proves that anyone can do it. In THE ARMY, we all run of each others adrenaline and energy and that’s what makes the classes so different, you never feel singled out because everyone wants it just as much as you do. I find that the best thing about being part of THE ARMY, especially when you get the chance to dance in the middle and everyone around you has so much adrenaline, you just dance off it. I was also lucky enough to make it into the pro-team and the opportunities we get as part of that team are amazing! Your talent never goes unnoticed.
My confidence, ability and attitude towards dance have all improved and I wouldn’t have been able to do that without THE ARMY.

I think it’s best to call this not only a physical but an emotional journey with beckie. I started as a younger girl, overweight unhappy and depressed. I started with a 6 week online PT programme with beckie and lost mass amount of weight. But for her it didn’t matter If I lost 1lb or 1stone, as long as I was happy with myself. I had already began a journey with beckie that then became amazing when she started to teach dance. For beckie it’s all about how you feel. Honestly you walk into her studio and it’s not about if you can dance or not it’s about how it makes you feel. I walk in and drop my mental baggage at the door and for hour or so can forget. She has taken me on such a journey that she will never fully realise.I have become myself again. I’ve met some amazing people that have made me such a happy human, I’ve made friends with people I would never otherwise meet and become a part of something beautiful. It makes me excited for a monday which I never thought would happen!! I love the challenges it brings, but beckie helps you release your emotions into one class, which I think is not only rare but truly a great thing to be a part of.

When I dance with THE ARMY DANCE COMPANY, I feel amazing. The amount of support you get in the class from everyone is insane. It’s not just in class but it is through comments on the videos we post online as well. Everyone loves to see people improve and grow a bigger love for dance. I love the dance style that Beckie focusses on, the songs are so vibey and you can’t help but enjoy yourself. Since dancing with Beckie and The Army Dance Company, I feel so much more confident and I also believe that Beckie has helped me so much to improve. Not only have I grown a bigger love for dance, I have made so many new amazing, supportive friends.
When I am in class, I can’t help but smile and have an amazing time, but I can leave all my issues and worries behind and I can just forget them for an hour or and hour and a half. When you are with The Army Dance Company, you aren’t just dancing, you are telling a story, and that is all down to Beckie and her amazing coaching and choreography. Being a part of the pro-team has given me so many opportunities and given me the chance to get to know the people a part of it, and I can now say that they are some of my closest friends. I love these classes and I can’t wait to see how it will evolve in the future. “Thank you Beckie for being the biggest supporter I have ever had

THE ARMY DC has changed my life forever!!!This dance class has truly made me look forwards to Monday’s , which shows how much I genuinely enjoy it. When I tell you it’s a vibe , I really means it’s a VIBEEEEE. The energy , love , enthusiasm and all round supportiveness of everyone there is like no other place. FACT! Beckie has really help bring out my confidence and week after week I enjoy it more and more . I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without The Army , what an amazing Family to be in .

I stopped dancing for 2 years after university and I’ve been dancing practically all of my life as a hobby, when I moved back to Reading there weren’t any hip hop classes and one day I went on Google to find Beckie’s classes. It felt so good to be back in a studio and Beckie was so welcoming and lovely from the get-go! From my experience of dancing, I soon found it all naturally came back however I’ve definitely been able to add a lot more SASS! I’ve felt sexier, more confident and it’s great to be around dancers with the same attitude.
As most people do, they have a lot going on and to balance life I used the classes as a space to let go and not focus on the seriousness of life! It’s a bit like therapy for me. At first I felt like I was still in my shell a bit; but as I kept going to classes I let myself truly go and allowed my confidence to really come out because not only did Beckie encourage it I could also see all the other dancers letting themselves go! I felt so much more at ease as everyone supports each other in classes and we all come together showing so much love!
There’s nothing but good vibes, a massive thank you and lot of admiration for Beckie for doing all of this for us and working so hard. It definitely doesn’t go unnoticed, we appreciate you! #TheArmyDC

I tried my first class at THE ARMY DANCE COMPANY in October of last year. I loved it straight away and was so ecstatic to have finally found a challenging and fun adult dance class; I had found after university that the majority of dance classes were either completely beginner or super competitive. The best thing about Beckie’s dance classes are the atmosphere; everyone cheers on and supports each other and it’s great to see people growing in confidence and style. I’ve always been a ballet/modern-trained dancer and Beckie’s classes have really challenged me to not hide behind technique, but to work out what a song means to me and to channel that into my performance.
At the beginning of this year, I was lucky enough to be selected for Beckie’s Pro Team, which is amazing, as it is great to be a part of something and I look forward to the many exciting performances we have ahead of us. If you are considering trying out class, the biggest piece of advice I can give to you is DO IT; you won’t regret, will grow in confidence and will get the chance to be a part of something amazing!
Tom Alsop
I first heard of Beckie and her classes when I came across one of her videos on Instagram and I instantly wanted to go. My first class was amazing, I fell in love straight away. I was nervous to go in at first but I have never felt so welcomed. Her choreography is insane and it somehow gets better every week! Her style is something I don’t have much experience in and I feel myself learning new skills and better technique every lesson.
She gives you the opportunity to express your feelings and emotions through her movements and her passion for dance motivates you to bring out a side of performance that I didn’t know existed.
There is so much talent in her classes and I am so privileged to be a part of it!!!
Lucy Douglas
When I first joined Beckie’s dance class, back at the beginning, I was completely terrified of stepping out of my comfort zone and insanely worried of what people thought of me. I was insanely anxious with exceptionally low esteem and absolutely no self confidence, but I forced myself to go to the class because I was tired of feeling this way.
Beckie has a way with people, she inspires confidence in the most timid of people and rips you out of your comfort zone, she brings people together.
Every week I went into class and came out feeling that little bit more confident, more myself, than I had felt in a long time and I was surprised to see my ability grow. What the most amazing thing about the class is the pure love, passion and support that everyone has for each other. There’s no judgements, no hierarchy, no favourites just a bunch of like minded positive people who want to grow and learn and just have fun.
Then we became THE ARMY and the bond grew even more.
I am not the same person who walked into the first class, the changes have stretched to every aspect of my life, Beckie and THE ARMY have made me a stronger, more confident person and have taught me how to believe in myself again. I’m excited to watch ourselves and our ARMY grow
Matt Payne
I am so pleased to have found Beckie’s classes and The Army DC.
I have been to lots of different dance classes in the past in various styles and, for the most part, these classes involve the same process of warming up, learning a short piece of choreo and dancing this choreo a couple of times at the end. However, Beckie’s classes are so much more than this. We are taught a mindset where we are focussing on our interpretation of a song and how it makes us feel, without comparing ourselves to anybody else in the room. We are taught to have confidence, trust our bodies and add our own personality to the dances. But most importantly, everybody supports each other and feeds off each other’s energy and enjoyment in what we’re doing. It’s impossible for me to leave class without a smile on my face and without feeling more empowered and confident than I came in.
Beckie’s classes are truly for everybody and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
Tasha Whybrow
Dancing can be a really powerful thing. You can lose yourself for that moment so that whatever stress or negativity is going on in your life is completely forgotten as the music takes over. This is why i was so excited when i found Beckie’s class after my previous dance company ended. The afro, hip hop and sassy choreo is just my style and as you get to learn a new routine every couple of weeks the vibe is kept fresh so you get the chance to grow as a dancer. The girls and guys who come to class are a great bunch and everyone feeds off eachothers passion and love to dance. I hope the longer i go to Beckie’s class the more i can work on my confidence so i can show just how much i love being there by my performance. Watching Beckie perform at the end of class is mesmerizing and something to aspire to. Looking forward to Monday already!
Natasha Colao
I chose to join Beckie’s dance class simply because they are amazing. I was out of dance for two years with an injury and I felt like I didn’t know how to dance again and was so worried, I went along to one of her classes and explained my situation to her, she gave me reassurance and the confidence to believe that I could get back into dancing. Beckie’s classes are motivating, encouraging, and challenging, every week is different which makes you want to keep going back! Not one class is the same, but you leave with the same feeling every week, which is happy and feeling great about yourself!
Melody Noel
My experience with Beckie has been positive and forward-thinking. She has been very proactive, taking my own personal goals into consideration to create opportunities for myself and others to grow as dancers and individuals. Since joining the ADC I feel more open-minded about dance and my own capabilities towards determining my future. Everyday can and should be a contribution towards bigger and better things to come. Every single time I leave the studio I feel so much better than I did walking into it, primarily because of the energy carried by becks along with other teachers and students. The atmosphere Beckie has created throughout the company I have not witnessed before in a dance class, and I feel grateful to be a part of such a welcoming company.
Georgia Miles
I started at the Army DC nearly a month ago and I am OBSESSED. After 1 week I already felt like I was a part of something. I’d seen Beckie’s videos online so to actually be in one of her classes was unreal. The whole ethos of Army DC is to build yourself up and grow as a person. After one session, it was obvious that’s exactly what they do.
I come out of every class on cloud 9, feeling full of confidence and self-belief and it’s clear that everyone feels that way. The atmosphere in the room is like no other. Everyone is so friendly, non-judgmental and accepting. I honestly can’t stress enough how amazing Beckie, Zoe and the Army DC is. They don’t just focus on your dancing but on your mindset and that is what really sets them apart.
“I genuinely think everything you and Beckie are doing is AMAZING. The beliefs behind everything you do and the way you’re helping people is just incredible.”
Aisha Carrington
Without you knowing sienna and her waking up to that video has really helped her this morning. See what the universe does when you surround yourself with good people, thank you. Sienna has been a different child all week, long may it continue. Everyone has noticed it, it’s like I have my girl back, she’s a joy to be around because she is beaming! She doesn’t like school, but who does? Every morning it used to be a struggle to get her up and out on time, she would be getting detentions for being late. Now she’s been getting up early at 6.30 on her own and leaving on time, that is all because of Monday’s class and her feeling grateful that I believe in her because I have let her come to dance with you. Who would think one class could change someone so much, it’s amazing! As a family we are so excited and thankful that in a world of social media and insecurities, we have found you. If you could send me that video, I’d love to show her and the grandparents.
Rosie Rutherford
Since I have joined Beckie’s classes I have felt so much more confident in myself and dance. I had never posted me dancing anywhere on social media, and Beckie’s classes gave me the confidence to be able to do that! Not only has it helped me improve but also helped me find myself. I always knew that hip hop was the style I was most passionate about but I was never given an opportunity to explore it like Beckie’s classes have. I have grown so much and can not wait to grow more! Thank you so much for just believing in me!
Annamaria Pellegrino
I used to train in dance but had a break whilst I focused on other aspects of life and recently decided I wanted to get back into dancing. I had been searching for a class in reading for ages and couldn’t find anything, then I came across this! This is honestly the best dance class in reading! I now look forward to Monday’s because I know at the end of the day I get to learn new choreography and have fun in Beckie’s class. I was worried it would take me a while to get back into it but the improvements and progress have been really visible. If I ever have any questions or are looking for development Beckie is always quick to respond and supportive. I know there are many fun and exciting opportunities with The Army and I’m looking forward to getting involved in them! Beckie’s class has definitely boosted my confidence in dancing again and my abilities!
Emily Goodyear
Being part of THE ARMY is like being part of one massive family. The love and support shown throughout every class is phenomenal. For total strangers to get behind each other and support one another the way they do during Beckie’s classes is amazing. Since joining the army my confidence levels have grown not only in dance but in life as well. Joining Beckie’s classes has been the best decision I’ve made whilst being here in Reading!!!
Taya Heaver
Coming to Beckie’s classes has made me so much more confident, able to believe in myself and let go when I dance. Dancing here I feel I am not only growing as a dancer but a person too as the confidence and self belief I have developed here has help me in other parts of life as well. The atmosphere and people here is amazing and there is so much support from everyone, you leave class feeling so positive and excited for.
Alice Cartwright
I used to dance a little when I was 14/15 and was very nervous to start it up again. I’ve played football for years so going back to dancing was completely opposite to that but my bestie zoe was involved and she was like ‘ come along ali! You’ll love it!’ So in my first dance class I went along and they all made me feel so so welcome! Such a lovely bunch of people and because everyone’s abilities are so mixed, I was like wow oh god I’m not as good as her or him, but that just pushed me more because I wanted to be like them. Especially beckie, she’s so amazing and so nice to every single one of us and makes sure we’re all getting the choreo okay. I look forward to my dance classes so much because I can be me and express whatever’s been going on at home or at work through my dancing. My confidence has grown so much already and I’ve only been there about a month or two! I love my ARMY!
Lauren King
When I first joined Beckie’s class I was nervous as I hadn’t danced for almost two years. Everyone made me feel so welcome and now I feel as if I’ve been there for years! The vibe in the class is just amazing, no matter how you feel when you first go to the class, you will always feel 10 times more positive and happier when you walk out! Thanks. lauren

Being part of THE ARMY DANCE COMPANY is like being part of a family, all so supportive and bringing out the confidence in each other. Dancing is the highlight of me week and having the amazing support from Beckie Hughes allows me to do the thing I love most as well as helping me to improve.
Rosie Collins
Army DC has really bought out a huge amount of confidence in my daughter. She has loved dancing since she was a toddler, she has tried several dance companies but has never found the one... until now... Army DC is amazing. Or in the words of Rosie after class 'That lesson was sick' ... Rosie dances everywhere from the bathroom to the shopping centre! I’m pretty sure she even dances in her sleep. Monday’s don’t come round quick enough! Beckie and Zoe put so much energy and 'Flavour' in to each class.
ARMY DC! Whooooaaaa
Shannon Cowling
I used to watch Beckie’s dance videos and it made me wanna dance so much. So glad she created a beginner class to break it all down to the basic steps. The class is very challenging but literally every week after it’s finished I can’t wait for the next one. It has brought out my confidence and I love the energy and support from all the other dancers and of course Beckie and Zoe. I wouldn’t of started dancing without this class!!

Beckie classes mean so much to me from the minute I started her classes, I instantly felt part of a new and amazing community and I am so thankful for this.
The amount of confidence I have gained from being around so many talented dancers has made me feel that I can be myself and express my emotions through my dance.

Mindset coaching with Beckie has been so eye opening. Beckie is great at getting you talking, she asks questions, and even challenges your answers to help unravel any barriers. She helps you be honest with yourself and really get to the core of who you are, what’s important to you, why you make the decisions you do and so much more.
I really like that all the sessions build upon each other – what I thought I knew about myself on day one is constantly developing and changing with every session.
I think one of the most valuable things I’ve found is actually doing these sessions as part of a group. It’s encouraged me to be honest with myself when others are opening up in front of me, but has also been a great support when the conversation has got emotional. I’ve really appreciated hearing other’s experiences, relating to the similar ones, and learning from the differences to help change the way I think about things.
As someone who always bottles things up, these sessions have been so helpful to encourage me to open up and actually start talking, which is a miracle in itself. It’s also helping me take a step back and actually understand and accept decisions I have made in the past, and realise what’s important to me for the future.
These sorts of conversations don’t tend to happen often, and can be a difficult subject as it forces you to look at yourself in ways you perhaps don’t want to. I’m loving taking the time out to focus on this, I’m learning so much about myself, and am excited to see where it goes.

It is so hard to put into words of what the army dc has done for me. I have always been someone who is confident in a way and talkative but before i joined i never really knew how to express my true feelings and emotions so i always found it quite hard to voice my opinion and thoughts,i was constantly hiding behind a facade that i thought would please everyone else which lead to me not loving myself and stopped me from being me. Joining the army dc has not only helped me grow as a dancer but as a person too. Army dc isn’t just my place of dance , it’s become my family and my safe place where i can express how i feel through movement and have the people around me know exactly what i am trying to say, that’s a very important thing to have for me because sometimes i don’t always like to say what’s going on inside my head but still want to reach out to somebody and dancing is the perfect way of doing that. Most importantly the army dc helped me out of a very dark stage and showed me that anything is possible if you stick your mind to it and work hard for what you want and to achieve that you have to keep in mind that you should always make time for yourself and put yourself first sometimes, i’ve become stronger person physically and mentally.

I just want to say this lockdown has been really stressful for me and probably has been for everyone, but doing these online mindset classes has really helped me.
We ALL open up, we ALL listen, to one another and by the end of class I feel stress free because of these classes. Online classes are not just 1 hour and then it’s done, it’s so much more than that. I take so much from these lessons just sitting down writing and talking about everything.
Beckie doesn’t just want us to grow in dance but also within our mindsets too which is what a fantastic leader does, because you’re then forced to grow in places you don’t realise.
Online classes make me feel at home the fact that we can talk and laugh and dance together is a true family knowing they’re all listening to your problems and giving their best advise is amazing and I am truly blessed to have met such great people because if these online classes weren’t on, I would just be sat in my room, but there classes motivate me to be better and do better.

As a married woman approaching her 30's I think it's fair to say I needed some serious mental boosters with my confidence, but to be honest, I had only signed up for a dance class every Thursday. It has been 10 years since I stepped in a studio and to say it was nerve wrecking is an understatement!
This goes far beyond a weekly dance class. I never anticipated the effect her teaching and training had on me, she trains you hard but only so you can see how deep you can dig within yourself to accomplish what really matters to you personally. THIS FAMILY IS VIBING through everything that's thrown our way! The positivity from Beckie and her inspirational lessons are what I will remember for life.
We are online classes now and to be completely honest - nothing has changed - I join zoom after a really tough few days at work, within an hour I'm signing off feeling 100% refocused and stronger. She is consistently invested in all of us and this really shows through the preparations for online classes. Teaching not only an alternative language, dance, but what your body & mind can achieve. To even spread personal growth without having that physical interaction through online platforms itself is an achievement to be proud of.
I don't think any review really does her justice. To have such an inspirational strong leader in your life, you need to join and vibe with us.
I have a lot of love and respect for you Beckie you don't even know the changes you have sparked within me. I'm so grateful <3
If you're reading this and considering joining - are you ready?
I can't express it in words enough my dear. 2020 has been the biggest year as it has forced me to re-evaluate my life and how much having passion for something is so important you can't let go of, I had followed you on insta for ages before I grew a pair and just came to class!
2020 brought me Army DC family and I will never look back

Before today i felt unmotivated, exhausted and in my head about everything, overthinking every little thing and now i feel confident and think are people really going to judge me for being me and if they do it doesn’t matter because when i achieve something they won’t be apart of it and that we only live once and everything i do is for me
Winnie Coombes
Before I was feeling very stressed and down about my appearance and just in general struggling to find the motivation to do simple tasks and to feel like my problems were not significant I saw when I was upset as an insignificant thing and that wasn’t a touch on other peoples problems so I can tend to bundle things up and I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed that’s also why I’m doing the social media thing which I think will help. Now I am feeling better and in a better headspace, and knowing that’s my problems aren’t insignificant and that I can cope with things and that it’s all just based on my mindset, and that the way to reach my goals is to be myself and have confidence instead of put my self down xx Thankyou for today!!!

Beckie Hughes is the best mindset coach I’ve had that I unknowingly signed up for. I joined the army dc because I enjoyed dancing and wanted to improve. I didn’t know of Beckie or the foundation her company is built upon until I took my very first class with her and immediately realised how fundamental it was for her clients to all believe in themselves and understand their self worth. I was so pleased to have found a dance teacher with so much emotional intelligence and wisdom.
My earliest memories of Beckie’s mindset coaching is the vulnerable group conversations she would have with us dancers and her famous words ‘Get your mind right first and the rest will follow’. This was a statement I learned to understand more and more each time I took class with Beckie. Her unique way of teaching eventually got me out of my head, allowed me to think less and feel more, without caring about the others around me.
Beckie understands the power of vulnerability and the difference a conversation can make to someone’s performance. There has been several times I have come to class not feeling my best and left feeling exhilarated and motivated because she allows us to get in touch with ourselves and be fully present.
Since being with the army dc for two and a half years, I can say that the open conversations, team building exercises, permission to be my true self and motivational speeches, all gained from the safe space Beckie has created, has not only positively impacted my dancing capability but my ability to be mentally strong in any circumstance I put myself in.
Before Beckie was in my life, I would refrain from being my full self or showing my full capability because I didn’t always feel adequate to do so and was worried about judgement. Beckie has trained me to silence those voices and understand that whatever I put out I will receive back.
I admire Beckie’s natural ability to make everyone she meets feel special and validated. She is extremely driven to get the best version out of all of us and always pushes us to grow through positive reinforcement. She leads by example as she trains all her dancers to show constant support to one another and lift each other up.
I have a lot of respect for Beckie because she has respect for all of us. In a society where we tend not to give flowers to people who deserve them, Beckie always makes sure she does. She has the unique ability to praise an individual in front of others without showing favouritism and using that praise as inspiration for others. Therefore everyone feels uplifted not just the individual being praised.
She is the best role model for anyone and everyone and I’m very proud and grateful of all the hard work she selflessly does for us all.

I've known Beckie just over a year now and I can honestly say I have grown so much in all kinds of ways!!
Before joining The ADC I was actually really struggling in life and was a bit lost I guess. I had 0 motivation to do anything until the day I was brave enough to sign up to dance and it has honestly been the best decision I have ever made.
I actually find myself a lot happier and confident within myself and that is purely from classes and the things Beckie teaches us (which isn’t just dance, she helps us mentally and emotionally as well).
I’ve really had my mind opened within the past year but especially the past 6 months, I have cut out toxic relationships with people who do not benefit my life and also started putting myself before other people.
One thing I love that we get reminded is ‘ WHY?’ why do we go to class, why do we do the things we do and to be honest I think this to myself each week as I have many reasons why I dance, why I work out and work on myself each week. Everything I learn from Beckie and other members from ADC I can implement into my everyday life and it really honestly has helped me look at life in a whole new way and words cannot explain how much happier I am!
I still have a lot of confidence to gain within dance but I would not be where I am without Beckie and The ADC’s help, that’s for sure! I can’t wait to continue my journey with all my friends, now family at The Army DC!!

I think it was pretty clear when I had my first coffee meeting I was crazy nervous! I wasn’t sure what to expect and there were so many things in terms of my dance ability that I was frustrated with but I had no idea where to start or what was really the issue.
It’s insane how much can change in half an hour. The first few 1 to 1s were great to be able to get into the details of my technique and figure out the way I learn. But actually, what’s been a game changer for me is having the opportunity just to talk frankly about everything going on in my life, inside and outside of dance.
Beckie, you have the rare skill of knowing how to truly listen to people. People talk with each other every single day as humans but there’s an incredible difference between hearing and actively listening. In every coffee meeting, it never feels like you’re there because you have to be, you’re genuinely invested in what I have to say.
That recent meeting where I just felt so overwhelmed I don’t think I’d even acknowledged myself how much I was struggling. I’m not necessarily a shy person in the traditional sense of the word but I have a tendency to hold my personality back and be quite reserved with what’s going in my life and because I’m just so used to getting on with it or thinking that people aren’t going to be interested in me. Besides, what’s so wrong with my life anyway? I’m usually the person offering support and advice. But the trust and comfort were there to open up which is something I usually never do.
We didn’t even touch on anything technique related that day and yet that’s the meeting that’s had the biggest impact on my dancing and also in my personal life. It just turned my mind around completely and since then I feel so much more able to be myself and own it in class. Thank you.

From the moment I came to my first Army DC workshop, it was clear that Beckie was here to create more than just a dance school. I turned up to that class when I was at a really low place in my life. But when I went along to that workshop, the energy and support in the room was so raw and genuine, that I went home that night feeling uplifted, inspired, and excited for something new. 4 and a half years on, and I can safely say that joining the Army DC was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. For me, Beckie has given me a place to escape from day to day life and to just be in the moment dancing with a wonderful bunch of people.
Some of the things I’ll keep with me forever, are the mindset lessons. From helping me understand myself and my core values, to encouraging me to celebrate my daily wins (even the small ones like cleaning the kitchen!), but most of all to open up more to those around me. Beckie sprinkles in mindset lessons into every class. I didn’t notice the small changes she was making at the time, encouraging us to try hard, to be kind, to be grateful, to support our friends, to be creative, to remember the little details about everyone, to have confidence, to be vulnerable, to help those around us, to talk about our insecurities, to talk about the things we love, to be silly, to have fun, to forgive ourselves, to push harder, to celebrate growth, to be proud of ourselves, to love ourselves, and so so much more. You only have to look around at everyone at the Army DC to see the effect.
If I had to pick one thing that has had the biggest effect on me, it’s the self acceptance. Beckie has taught me to love and embrace some of the things I hated about myself. That one change in my mindset has made so many parts of my life better, from dance, to work, to relationships with my friends and family. And for that I cannot begin to thank you enough Beckie. You are a true role model in my life and continue to inspire me everyday with your hard work, infectious energy, kindness, and drive to keep giving so much to the people around you.

I personally like to think that, being able to have any kind of 1-1 coffee meeting with Beckie is one of the most beneficial, amazing, life-changing experience that you can ever have, and I’m not even exaggerating!! Truly life changing to me and more than anything, eye-opening. From my first meeting to my most recent, the amount I have taken and learnt from Beckie within a short amount of time is genuinely insane, and I really can’t put into words for how grateful I am!! The conversations I am able to have with Beckie have enabled me to open up more and become more confident in what I want to achieve and what I believe in, not only just as a dancer but as a person as well. Beckie is able to flip my whole perspective on things for the better, reworking my mind on the negatives, turning them into positives and showing me what I can do to achieve my aspirations and how I can work towards them. Without these meetings I can guarantee you, I would not believe in myself as much as I do today, nor would I have anywhere near the confidence I have, before I was lucky enough to have my first meeting with Beckie. Without sounding cliche, these meetings have truly changed me so much for the better, and have helped me through some of the toughest, most stressful times I’ve experienced in the last year with my personal and dance life, to my college life.
Beckie has taught me that there is always time and space for growth upon growth. If you truly apply yourself to what you want to achieve and work as hard as you can, giving 110% every time (no less!), then you can grow so much as a dancer, as well as a person. Applying yourself to every opportunity that comes your way and taking everything as a life lesson, learning from your growth and using it to achieve your goals. Beckie has been able to teach me that it’s okay to not be the best dancer in the room, as long as you put every little ounce of yourself into the class and your performance, telling your story, that’s what makes you grow and stand out.
Beckie has also taught me that there is no point in being anyone but your true self. This has been one of the most important things Beckie has taught me personally through having are 1-1’s, discussing what I can bring differently to any other person in the dance industry as well as life in general. This is how Beckie really makes you think about things that you’ve never thought of before, which then become breakthrough and life changing moments as you discover more of yourself through these meetings. You should live and dance every moment of your life as your true authentic self, not pretending to be someone you’re not or hide your true identity because you’re scared of what others might think. You live and dance every moment for yourself, nobody else, and for me, that became a big realisation when building my confidence and showing others who I really am. Describing myself as a dancer in three words: FIERCE, SASSY and to be honest GAY, and I’m proud to own those titles and think about what I need to bring to each class when I’m training.
These 1-1 meetings mean so much to me for so many different reasons, as I’m really able to connect with Beckie on such a personal level, not only as my teacher but as a true friend, helping me to achieve the best version of me. Beckie is able to bring out the best in me through these meetings and give me so much more than I ever thought I needed, I just don’t think I could ever put into words how much they’ve helped me grow and inspire me as a dancer, and personally transition me from a teenager into an adult. Thank you, Beckie, from the bottom of my heart, for being able to give me all that you have through these 1-1’s, I am forever grateful.

Before the coffee meeting I had with Beckie, my mind was all over the place. I struggled to deal with my anxiety and properly let go both during dance and general day to day life. I owe a great deal to Beckie for helping me fully understand my self worth, capabilities and mindset. Previously i had let my anxiety and worries take over and overwhelm my life, which looking back was not healthy and made me someone I was not. The impact which the one to one meeting with Beckie has had has been indescribable. Just one chat has changed my entire mindset on how I see my life. I had always just accepted my anxiety as just part of my life, however Beckie has enabled me to tackle the cause head on and given me the steps I need to take to finally improve my mental health. I have also started to prioritise my mental health over everything else, which is completely down to Beckie reassuring me that it should be my focus in order to grow both as a dancer and as a person. My confidence, happiness and resilience grew within the hour of speaking to Beckie. I have finally begun to accept myself rather than beating myself down for insignificant things. Day to day, my life has changed for the better, as I have gained a new level of motivation and joy which helps me get through the tougher times! Without this meeting, I wouldn’t be feeling so positive and inspired for the future. Beckie is a very selfless and caring person, who has helped me more than I could ever tell her. She is an exceptional mentor, and I will forever be in debt to her as I am beyond grateful for her and all her effort, thought and time she has given me to help me improve myself.

Dancing at the army dc has definitely changed my mindset in different ways. My experience with having Beckie as a dance teacher is always great, as she is a massive inspiration, and always encourages us to be our best, but also enjoy ourselves, which always creates a positive atmosphere at the army dc. Before joining the army dc, my mindset would usually be negative when approaching new situations because I would always worry about being perfect and would compare myself a lot, however over the years I experienced challenges in classes, that I have learned from and I always gained something from them. My mindset now, is more ambitious and positive during challenges, however I do not worry about being perfect when I do choreo and I now understand that it just takes time, patience and effort to reach my best which has also made me more determined. My biggest takeaway from being part of the army dc is that I have learned how important it is to not give up on myself, because if I did when I started, I would have limited my opportunity to do better and achieve the goals I had. When I do struggle in dance I just think about “why I started” which is something that Beckie encourages everyone to think about. She also deeply considers our attitude towards dance and other situations, by taking the time to talk to us about how we could change our mentality and perspective towards things, which is something that I think not a lot people consider/talk about very often. But the small speeches Beckie gives has definitely made me more determined to achieve my aims in life.
My biggest positives and takeaways from Beckie’s mindset changes are:
1. That I am able to think more positively when in negative situations.
2. I don’t compare myself to others anymore because I’ve learned that ‘no one is better than me, and I am not better than anyone else, however everyone does things in different ways’.
3. Whenever I am focusing on my fitness as a dancer, I think about why I should put more effort in, and how it will impact me eventually, which helps me to continue when I feel challenged.
This has definitely impacted me outside of dance just as well as when I am at dance. Whenever I am at dance I still allow myself to be frustrated at myself when I don’t understand things, however I don’t let myself stay frustrated and I focus more on what I am doing wrong and how I can stop that, by asking more questions/advice. Outside of dance the impact has ecouraged me to be more patient with myself and others. It has also let me realise the importance of putting effort into things even when I feel unmotivated. The army dc has helped me a lot in different ways thanks to everyone there and Beckie, for creating an uplifting environment x

Where do I start? I started at The ARMY DC back in July and not only as a dancer have I grown but also as a person. I had A LOT of family problems last year and relationship problems and I have danced for nearly 12 years and for the first time in my life I just wasn’t going to dance classes, I was depressed and kept pushing the people the loved me the most away. I turned into someone I never thought I would be I was constantly exhausted and taking things out on people for no reason at all. I became very bitter to situations and kept putting other people’s problems and health before mine. When I first started having coffee meetings with Beckie I was always doubting my talent and ability to do things and especially showcase that to people! I hardly ever used to post dance videos and wouldn’t even dance in front of my friends because nerves and confidence got the better of me. Beckie is such a strong-minded person and will tell you what she thinks is the right thing to do. The best thing for me to do at the time was to put myself and my happiness first. I am a really soft person and used to be walked all over. I look back now to how I felt then to how I feel now and I feel like I have my Mojo back and I’m back to the hard working, smiling, cackling and bubbly person that I am. I cannot thank Beckie enough for showing me and reminding me to always be myself no matter the situation because the right people will always love you for the right reasons and not everybody will like you so she’s taught me to be the shining light in the room. People always bounce off other people’s feelings and if you come to class with no vibe or go to work in a bad mood everybody else will feel that. Sometimes you have to be selfish. And by doing that I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. I would never pull facials I would never look directly into the camera and I would never freestyle and always said I couldn’t! The only time I would ever do little bits was in my bedroom! Now you can’t get me off the floor?! I started retaking all my classes again and finally feeling like I could step into a room and feel good about it and if I went wrong it didn’t mean I was bad it just meant that I’m learning and growing because mistakes are all apart of growth. One session with Beckie about 3-4 months ago I cried for an hour and a half and I am open to say this because we really hit some homes truths. Beckie always says it only takes one conversation with somebody. I left feeling like a massive weight had been lifted off my shoulders and feeling like I could conquer anything! I deleted my social media for a while and had time to myself, cleansing and detoxing and started every day off by saying things I was grateful for. It took me over a year to finally come to the army dc and I couldn’t imagine my life without it now. And it wouldn’t be such a safe, vulnerable place to be if it wasn’t for Beckie's support and guidance. She never favours anybody and appreciates everyone’s growth. I could write an essay about how much it means to me. We are all soldiers and we all stand together and support together and grow together. I wake up every morning with a massive smile on my face and just thankful that I get to do what I love EVERY single day and I promise I will keep working hard and doing you proud! You make me so proud how much drive and ambition you have at such a young age and I really strive to be like that and be a better person. It’s crazy how the mind works but if you learn to control it you will become so strong. Thank you Bex for saving me I’m forever grateful you absolute legend. I won’t ever let you or my family down??❤

My experience with Beckie has been such a life changing journey, for example my mindset has changed a lot since joining the company I’ve really changed for the better! My biggest takeaway is to put your mindset first and you really do make family for life for this reason it’s because the mindset training really shows your mind is the biggest part of you.
I have taken away:
1. Happiness
2. Humbleness
3. Family
Beckie hasn’t just helped with my dance but she’s done so much more with helping outer life aswell and how to deal with certain situations life changing experience joining the armydc was the best decision of my life can’t thank becks enough.

The meetings with Beckie have helped me massively. There are things I have worked on over the past couple months that I would never of even known to do without Beckie setting me targets in these meetings and also how to actually achieve them. It’s so nice how the meetings are specifically about you and your progress too I’ve never really had anyone really break down what I need to do before but also make me feel so positive about it too. I feel like without this my progress wouldn’t be where it is as they have made me understand myself more as a dancer, so I’m more open to challenging myself and letting go now because I know it’s all possible realistically. Like if you told me 6 months ago I’m actually starting to like freestyling I wouldn’t of believed you. The meetings and training have also made me realise that everything I feel in dance and life is normal because I would’ve never looked at anyone in that room and thought they get stressed or anything like that. I feel like that was one of the biggest things for me, just knowing that it is normal and you can overcome it, it is just trusting and believing in yourself. Im so thankful for all the help, advice and training from Beckie and it’s really has made me feel like someone actually believes in me.
